THVS is planning a very fun day to welcome TVHS Hawk Alumni back to campus on December 18th! Alumni will speak to senior students in Lori Gahr, Jill Chambers and Andrea Heck's classrooms about their post high school experiences in college, trade schools, service and the workforce. There will be a specific agenda for that day.

Pre-Game Pizza and Help
Dear Band Parents,
The students are not permitted to eat in their brand new marching uniforms so we'd like to take turns bringing in pizza and cookies to ensure our students have eaten something BEFORE each home game. There are only 4 games, so each class can sign up to cover one game. It is not required that your child participates, but it should make life easier AND be fun for the students. There are also slots to sign up to help in the Band Room before and moving equipment during each game.

You're Invited!
Dear Families,
The Tanque Verde Music Boosters Club (TVMBC) would like to invite you to join us for a special evening on Monday, August 28th, from 6-7:30pm in the MPR. The TVHS Marching Band will be performing (in their brand new uniforms!) and then we will all enjoy a community potluck meal to celebrate the start to a great, new season. The Boosters will provide sandwiches and are asking families to help out with sides. Below is a Sign-Up Genius. Please bring your dishes between 5:30-6.
Here is the schedule for the evening:
4:30-5:30 Marching Band Practice
5:30-6:00 Change into Uniforms
6:00-6:15 Perform for Families
6:15-7:30 Potluck
It will be a special night of music and community. Hope to see you there!

The TVHS Spring Concert is Tuesday, May 16th, 7pm in the THVS MPR. All the ensembles will be performing so be sure to attend to listen to an evening showcasing their musical talents.

The December President's Note
The last month of the year! It seems like there is so much crammed into these last 31 days of 2022. In all the busyness, I wish you peace and joy and many restful days off…after school gets out, right??

Save the date and join your amazing students at our Winter Concert on Tuesday, December 13th at 7PM in the MPR. Come hungry for dessert as we will have baked goods and water for sale. All proceeds from this sale go right back into the Booster Club.
We will have VIP Seating available at the Concert. There are only 27 seats available, so make sure to reserve yours before they are all gone. Pie! Tell me More!
Mr. Harris has offered to take a pie to the face if we reach our $5000 fundraising goal by the National Day of Giving - November 29th. As of today, we have rasied $1200.
In addition, he will shave his head if we raise $10,000!
The beauty of this fundraiser is ANYONE can donate! Think of all those special adults in your music studen'ts life. Ask them if they'd like to support our amazing programs.
Ideally, each music family donates $100. This saves us having to attend dine outs or sell things to raise funds.

Music Program SY2021-22 YEARBOOK
Calling all TVHS music parents and students! Send all your music program pictures from this past school year! All programs!! Camera? Sure. Phone pics? Yep. Concerts, pep band or candid, silly pics during rehearsal or class? Absolutely!! As long as it involves students from the music program we want it! Deadline for submitting pictures is Friday, April 1! If we don't have any pictures, we cannot create a yearbook so please take a moment and help us preserve this year's memories!

Congratulations to Arianna Velosa!
Arianna was chosen as the TVHS Band recipient of the
2021 Impact of One Nathan Hubble Scholarship!
The scholarship was established in memory of Nathan Hubble, a talented saxophone player and section leader in the Tanque Verde High School Band. Nathan's wonderful qualities as a thoughtful mentor and positive role model impacted many of his peers and underclassmen, in band and across the Tanque Verde school community.

A Quick Note from Your Freshman Liaison…
Welcome to all our incoming and new TVHS Music Department musicians and families! As Freshman Liaison, I am one of the points of contact to field any of our new families’ questions.Please feel free to ask away - my email address is freshmanliaison@tvmusicbooster.club.
I’ll start with some questions that we’ve received in the past…
What is my music student supposed to be doing during the summer to prep the upcoming school year?
Keep practicing! Because of marching season, band students should be in contact with their section leader and review any videos those leaders are sharing.
What is marching season?
Much like an athletic team, high school bands have a marching season in which they learn and memorize music and marching drill. The season is closely aligned with the high school football season, beginning the summer before school starts and usually ending in November; practices are scheduled during the summer months to help students be ready for their first performance. The Pride of TVHS Marching Band performs at home football games and performs at area festivals during the season.
Will there even be marching season given COVID-19?
At this time, we don’t know. Mr. Johnson, the TVHS Band Director, is working to ensure students are ready should the OK be given to have a marching season. However, he is also developing lessons should the season be postponed or cancelled.
